FAQ About Cleaning Your Roof

I recently started doing some research on roof cleaning after I noticed that the shingles on my roof were beginning to get discolored. It turns out that its a harmful algae that eats away at the shingles..
The Limestone in these shingles is the favorite food of
“cyano bacteria gloeocapsa”. Unfortunately, homeowners don’t learn about this algae until their roof is badly stained. Bacteria spores are carried by wind, birds, squirrels, etc. The roof stains are caused by the airborne spores from blue & green algae (Cyano Bacteria). These roof raiders land on your roof shingles and feed on the limestone base of the asphalt shingles. Then fungus, mold and mildew grow on the roof algae, as they require organic food (the algae) to survive. As the roof algae grows, it holds moisture allowing the growth to accelerate. Thus the roof streaks and stains spread wider and darker over time. These pest are then tracked and blown onto other roofs in the area..
After reading this I decided to get my roof cleaned. I did a local business search in google and read through some of the reviews until I found one I liked. Just do a search roof cleaning, or power washing. I chose a company called prestige window cleaning and power washing.. They seemed to have a lot of experiance in all sorts of home cleaning services.. But any how you do it, get your roof cleaned and spayed with a anti algae protection.
